The Lost Soul

Looking for a good YA fantasy tale with lots of interesting characters? The Lost Soul by K.S. Marsden should be right up your alley. I’m giving away three eBook (amazon.com) copies of this great book on the Atomic Aaardvark Facebook Page. To win one, find the status about The Lost Soul and comment with the word “Gardyn” to win your copy today.

Toward the end of The Lost Soul one of the unicorns asks, “Why do humans have to be so devious and complicated?” Because, dear unicorn, the story wouldn’t be very interesting otherwise. Besides, the non-human characters had plenty of conflict and intrigue too. If the horseshoe fits, wear it.

When this book started I thought I had it all figured out: Plain Jane type (Samantha) follows high school heartthrob (David) into a new world – they fall in love and save the world to boot. Thankfully, I was wrong. The direction the story took and the unlikely alliances formed were not what I was expecting.

The heroine’s journey of self-discovery puts her in the path of a lot of interesting characters along the way. After a harrowing brush with death David kind of fades into the background. I hope he gets more prominence in the next book because he has potential to be a very compelling character.

That there are unicorns in this book should not be a turn-off. They were another race among the other inhabitants of the land of Enchena and were characterized very well.
I’m glad I found The Lost Soul!
